Delta Delta
The Delta Delta chapter is the 100th chapter of Tau Beta Sigma. It was founded on May 16, 1969 by 19 students and has become an integral part of UMass Amherst's band program.
We are a part of the Northeast District. We have helped colonize two other chapters, Eta Gamma at Boston University and Iota Alpha at Marist College, by serving as their Big Sister chapter.
Our founding Sisters are Diane Jenkins, Kathy Dwyer, Cathy Leonard, Marguerite Horn, Judy Gravel, Louise Benoit, Nancy Broderick, Diane Debenedetto, Nancy Denault, Susan Fougstead, Elizabeth Knowles, Dorothy McCarthy, Roberta McCarthy, Pamela Poggio, Linda Reffeli, Gale Sakaris, Sarah Slatterthwaite, Jayne Stone, and Sandra Phelps.
Our Vision Statement
Delta Delta is a diverse chapter of the national honorary band sorority, Tau Beta Sigma. The chapter is dedicated to serving the collegiate ensembles at the University of Massachusetts Amherst with our thriving membership. We consistently aim to develop leaders, encourage enthusiasm within the marching band, and acknowledge women in music on the local and national levels for their achievements. We strive to fulfill the needs of the band through our collaboration and partnership with other organizations on our campus dedicated to the advocacy and advancement of music education. The Chapter emphasizes the Sisterhood as a family within the band family and encourages members of the band to join in the welcoming experience of the bond and our ideals.
